Wrap-up: Amazing weekend

Amazing weekend at Cuse. The former cuse players were into it, the schedule was great and we played great games. 12 hours of bball in 48 hours was a grind but pushed everyone to suck it physically and mentally. The competitiveness of the coaches led them to playing the key starters most of the game -35+ minutes of a 40 minute game.

Between playing bball, getting ready to play in the training room/warming up and then winding down with ice baths and more training room stretching, we basically didn’t do anything but eat and sleep other than play bball all weekend. Doesnt get better than that.

Would have loved to win the title but hard to complain about losing title game in a battle, making the all star team and having a great time hanging out playing bball all weekend.

Always good to be back on campus. Excited for next year

Finals: Tough loss

Played the finals in the dome vs Ricky & Feldstein’s team coached by Stevie Thompson, John Wallace & DC. We got down by 10 in the first part of the first half and then went on a big run to take an 8 point lead at the half. We stretched it to 12 then Ricky caught fire, we made a bunch of stupid turnovers against the press and Feldstein made some key buckets to narrow the lead. The kicker is they took the lead on a 3 from some guy named Tomassetti that was a non-factor in the game up to that point which gave them a 1 point lead. We made some dumb mistakes down the stretch and they held on for a 4 point victory. Disappointing. i had 10 pts in the finals against some tough matchups against Ricky and Feldstein.E Bram played amazing defense on Ricky most of the game as he did all camp (he was named all defensive player of the camp) and Elias was a warrior carrying us on his back.

So much so that he need IV after the game to regain his senses. He, Bram and i played most of the semis and finals games.

Congrats to Dan and Ricky on second consecutive Cuse title.

Semi-finals: game winning shot…

We played in the semi-finals this morning against Ferdman’s team coached by Red Autry and L-Moten and it was a nail-biter. We were leading by 4 to 6 points most of the game but they whittled it down to a 2 point lead. Michael hit some big shots and was an uncharacteristic rebounding machine in this game with 9 boards to go with his 16 pts. Bram was rock solid on both sides of the floor and Elias was our go to guy as usual.

We had the lead until Ferdman got an and-1 layup to put them up 1 with one minute to go when he cut to the hole when i doubled AJ. We got fouled and Karim missed the front end of the one on one but somehow got his own rebound and passed it to me. I caught it and drove, hit the layup in traffic and got fouled. Missed the free throw but we held on for the last 40 secs to win the game and advance the finals. I had 15 pts and 13 rebs in semis.

Game 3 Blow out win…regaining momentum

We came out on fire and were up 22-2 within the first 5 minutes. Much needed win for the team heading into playoffs tomorrow (#3 seed) and much needed personal showing (20 pts on 9-17 shooting and 11 boards) after two terrible games. Team played super well and unselfishly and shot almost 50% (unheard of at this level).

Playing Ferdman’s team in semifinal round tomorrow at 10am

Game 3 win blowout win 80-46 box score. 20 pts, 11 rebs for BW

Coaching staff before legends game. I smartly opted out of opportunity to play against Cuse legends to preserve the legs for 5pm game. It was more fun to watch. G-Mac can still shoot it incredibly, Hakin Warrick was throwing down windmill dunks and J-Wallace can still play…..of course, they were playing against dinosaurs but….

Game 2 loss (again)

Played Ferdman’s team coached Red Autry during the 10am game. Michael distributed the ball well and we played from behind the entire game. I laid an egg by missing a half dozen shots around the hoop. 0-2. GMac openly questioning his use of a high draft choice on me. Wasted another workhorse performance from Elias.
